Nothing like a "new do"
Today I took the girls to get their hair cut. They were so excited about it. I let them look at the books with all the kids’ haircuts in them and they decided together to get chin length bobs. When Ms. Deri asked Zoe what she wanted, she said, “I want it like this,” and karate-chopped herself in the cheek.:) After I translated, Ms. Deri got to work and the results are so cute. Zoe hopped out of the chair and then made friends with everyone in the salon, telling them about her haircut and all about how her best friend Nora cut her hair herself (“But we don’t do that ‘ecause we don’t know how to cut our hair.” Think wide-eyes and hands poised in the air at this point.) and then had to get her hair cut REALLY short.
Riley hopped in the chair and told Ms. Deri that she wanted her hair cut exactly like Zoe’s. She looks gorgeous and very grown up. After Ms. Deri was finished, Riley walked into the lobby and Zoe jumped out of her chair and gave Riley a gigantic hug. “Now our twins!”
Riley walked around looking in all the mirrors. She was very careful to hold her head just the right way lest her “new do” should suddenly disappear. I was told that Riley told several people as they entered the salon that her hair looked beautiful.:)
I got my hair cut too today, though it was just a trim for me. As I was paying and making an appointment for Kevin and Adam, Zoe said, “Mommy, I like your new haircut, but mine’s better.”
p.s. Kevin will post some beautiful photographs later…right now you will have to settle for the picture I took on the little camera I carry in my purse.:)
p.p.s. As I was telling Zoe about posting her picture to the blog so that everyone could see her new haircut, she commented, “They are going to LOVE it!” I asked her if there was anything else she’d like me to say and she said, “Tell them that I am beautiful, and that I love them.”
