Encouragement
Hello all,
So many of you have said, “I haven’t received any updates on the kids lately (a comment for which I feel extremely blessed—that you pray for us and want to know means more to us than words can say),” that Kevin and I thought we’d start a blog that you can read if and whenever you like and hear and see some of the “goings on” in our pleasantly chaotic home. In our house there is room for so much laughter and much adventure (some grand, some not so grand), so at least the posts should be mildly entertaining.:)
Yesterday I took Adam over to LabCorp to get some blood drawn (his endocrinologist is checking things like thyroid function, lipids, etc just to keep tabs on them), and the girls sat in a great big red chair together cheering him on. It was encouragement at its purest and most sincere. Adam was more concerned about the rubber strap tied to his arm than the needle (he sees needles every day, after all), and he cried just a little about that. Personally, I think he remembers how painful it was when they put his IV in during his hospitalization following his diabetes diagnosis (a process which was heart wrenching for all of us because it seemed endless and very painful for Adam). Anyway, the girls sat there in their red chair, and as soon as he started whimpering, they both started cheering him on. “It’s okay, Adam. You can do it, Adam! Almost finished, Adam!” It struck me that they knew instinctively what we all know ultimately: Sometimes you just need the people who love you to be there and say what you’d like to believe—that it’ll be okay and you’ll get through it.
More from the circus coming soon…
